About the series
Jack Kirby returned to Marvel in the late 1970s to launch this solo series for the Black Panther, taking T'Challa out of Wakanda and into a globe-trotting adventure as a school principal in Harlem. The 15-issue run, co-written by Ed Hannigan and Jim Shooter with art by Kirby and Jerry Bingham, introduced a new supporting cast including the resourceful Abner Little and the regal Princess Zanda, while pitting the Panther against mystical and technological threats. This series marked a bold, if brief, expansion of the character's world, showcasing Kirby's signature cosmic energy and design sense applied to a street-level hero.
