Usagi Yojimbo #142
In "Ice Runners," Stan Sakai delivers another masterful chapter in the enduring saga of Usagi Yojimbo, as the ronin crosses paths with Hayashi and Kubo, two daring runners tasked with transporting ice from the mountains to Lord Hikiji’s palace in a high-stakes wager between rival lords. With Stan Sakai handling every aspect of the interior art, inking, and lettering, the story unfolds with his signature blend of quiet tension and vivid detail, following Usagi as he guards the runners through treacherous terrain—where injury and loss come swiftly, but honor and perseverance endure. The cover, also by Sakai, captures the icy intensity of the journey.
