Ultimate X-Men (Vol. 2) launched in 2024 as the third pillar of Marvel's rebooted Ultimate Universe initiative, alongside Ultimate Spider-Man and Ultimate Black Panther, with Peach Momoko — already celebrated as a Marvel Stormbreaker cover artist — making her sustained debut as both interior artist and writer of a monthly series. Momoko worked with script adaptor Zack Davisson, whose background includes translating Japanese folklore, a pairing that gave the book its distinctly Japanese cultural texture. By the time issue #19 arrived on September 3, 2025, Momoko had publicly noted that her approach was deliberately free of classic X-Men influences, explaining that editor-in-chief C.B. Cebulski and Jonathan Hickman chose her precisely because they wanted 'something completely new and different.'
