History

Ultimate X-Men Vol. 2 was plotted and fully illustrated by Eisner Award-winning artist Peach Momoko — working in her signature watercolor style — with English script adaptation by Zack Davisson, lettering by Travis Lanham, and editing by Wil Moss. Momoko has cited Japanese body-horror manga, horror cinema, and anime including Puella Magi Madoka Magica and Serial Experiments Lain as primary creative influences on the series, deliberately blending school-life slice-of-life with supernatural horror rather than traditional superhero conventions. Issue #7, on sale September 18, 2024, opens the second of the series' three story arcs; Momoko had already seeded the character of Kanon/Psylocke through her Demon Days mythology, where Kanon's ancestor 'Sai' first appeared, giving the debut here an intertextual continuity unique to Momoko's expanding Marvel body of work.
