Transmetropolitan Book Five collects more of Warren Ellis and Darick Robertson's sharp, anarchic vision of the future, with Robertson's own cover art putting journalist Spider Jerusalem front and center — tattooed, shirtless, and seated on a toilet with a laptop at his feet, his two-headed cat lounging nearby amid the chaos of a neon-lit cityscape visible behind him. It's a perfectly irreverent image that captures the series' blend of social satire and gleeful bad taste. With inks also by Robertson and colors by Nathan Eyring, this 2021 DC/Vertigo collection is a vivid reminder of why The Comics Journal called it "one of the best mainstream comics of the millennium.
