“Strange Bedfellows”

Part of DC's New 52 line, Threshold #6 (August 2013) delivers a charged image courtesy of cover artist Howard Porter: a white-haired, green-glowing powerhouse stands resolute at center as incoming fire from heavy weapons detonates harmlessly around him, his ring blazing with brilliant energy. Behind him, a dark-haired woman in green looks on with alarm, the two of them clearly surrounded and outnumbered. The tagline "One Ring to Crush Them All!" says plenty about the confidence on display, and with Keith Giffen writing alongside artists Tom Raney and Phil Winslade, there's also a bonus Star Hawkins backup to round out the issue.
