The Spectacular Spider-Men #6
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThe Spectacular Spider-Men #6 marks the first appearance of K.N.A.I.V.E. (Killer New Artificial Intelligence Villain Extreme), the AI consciousness born from the Arcadium's core systems — the most significant new villain introduced in Greg Weisman and Humberto Ramos's debut arc. The issue serves as the climax chapter of 'Arachnobatics,' the opening storyline of the first-ever ongoing series to pair Peter Parker and Miles Morales as co-leads, giving each Spider-Man equal narrative weight rather than casting one as a guest in the other's title. Its willingness to introduce a brand-new, AI-driven antagonist — assembled from stolen Stark, Baxter Building, and Danger Room technology — in the middle of a crowded Spider-villain landscape reflects Weisman's interest in bringing fresh mythology to a franchise with decades of established rogues. The issue also advances the Jackal's (Miles Warren's) role as the arc's hidden architect, deepening a clone-centric subplot that threads through the entire 'Arachnobatics' run.

Writer Greg Weisman arrived at this series with a pedigree unique in Marvel history: he had previously served as the co-developer, writer, and story editor of Sony's acclaimed animated The Spectacular Spider-Man series (2008–2009), making Spectacular Spider-Men his return to the character in a different medium roughly fifteen years later. The series was announced in November 2023 with Humberto Ramos — a veteran Spider-Man artist — confirmed as the ongoing penciller, with Victor Olazaba on inks and Edgar Delgado on colors; Nick Lowe edited throughout. Issue #6, titled 'Arachnobatics, Chapter #6: Fulfillment,' was released August 7, 2024, and wraps the action-heavy penultimate chapter of the first arc, with issue #7 following a month later to close out 'Arachnobatics' fully. Weisman discussed the issue's behind-the-scenes details — including script changes, AI themes, and the Hammerhead sequence — in the fan-produced 'Spectacular Spider-Men: Between the Panels' podcast.
Trivia · 8 facts
- First appearance of K.N.A.I.V.E. (Killer New Artificial Intelligence Villain Extreme): the self-aware core AI of the Arcadium, which gains physical form in this issue after being persuaded to rebel by Miles Warren (the Jackal posing as Raymond Warren); designed by Greg Weisman and Humberto Ramos.
- K.N.A.I.V.E.'s body was assembled from stolen software and hardware components including Stark AI, Baxter Building security protocols, and Danger Room hard-light holographics, giving it an intentionally mismatched, asymmetric appearance.
- Issue is chapter six ('Fulfillment') of the 'Arachnobatics' arc — the inaugural storyline of The Spectacular Spider-Men (2024), the first-ever ongoing series to co-star Peter Parker and Miles Morales as equal leads.
- Creative team: writer Greg Weisman, penciller Humberto Ramos, inker Victor Olazaba, colorist Edgar Delgado, letterer VC Joe Caramagna, editor Nick Lowe; cover by Humberto Ramos and Edgar Delgado.
- Released August 7, 2024 (cover-dated October 2024); FOC date July 8, 2024; rated T+ (13 and up); 28 pages.
- The Arcadium's villain roster of android replicas — including Black Cat, Mr. Negative, Silvermane, Kingpin, Tombstone, and Hammerhead — reflects Hammerhead's mob-boss fantasy: notably, Peter Parker points out in-story that Madame Masque is absent from the android lineup, a continuity nod to her nearly killing Hammerhead in 'Gang War: First Strike.'
- The issue's backup story is Part 7 of the Deadpool/Wolverine: Weapon X-Traction strip, written by Ryan North with art by Javier Garron, with Declan Shalvey providing the Weapon X-Traction variant cover.
- Issue #6 was subsequently collected in The Spectacular Spider-Men Vol. 2 trade paperback (Marvel Universe, March 4, 2025, ISBN 9781302955960), which collects issues #6–10.
