The Fantagraphics EC Artists' Library #21
"Derelict Ship" from The Fantagraphics EC Artists' Library #21 (2018) delivers a stark, unsettling tale of human cruelty disguised as spectacle, written by Carl Wessler and masterfully illustrated and inked by Bernie Krigstein, with lettering by Jim Wroten. Set in a world where entertainment is built on suffering, the story follows two couples—Felix and Lila, Aaron and Beatrice Scott—whose escalating rivalry over crowd-pleasing acts spirals into a chillingly brutal solution. The cover by Bernie Krigstein captures the story’s grim tone, making this a standout entry in the EC legacy.

Felix and Lila watched a cock fight, and Felix thought it was inhuman. Nearby, they was another fight brewing...between vicious dogs, and a similar argument brewed between Aaron and Beatrice Scott. Later Aaron and Felix compared notes and discovered that the two couples were trying to outdo each other to draw paying crowds. Later the two women ran into each other and a slow hatred developed between the two. To the husbands involved, there was only one solution to their "problem" women and competing "businesses": they put the two women into the arena and let them go at each other!
