Shock SuspenStories #18
In "Cadillac Fever!", a 1954 classic from EC Comics, a paranoid policeman’s escalating fear spirals into chaos after he spots a man with a bloodstained bag and a wild look—convinced it holds his boss’s severed head. Written by Carl Wessler and illustrated with stark intensity by Bernie Krigstein, the story unfolds in a tense, noir-tinged cityscape where suspicion and mistaken identity ignite a deadly chase. The cover by George Evans captures the moment’s dread, while Marie Severin’s bold colors and Jim Wroten’s sharp lettering complete the chilling atmosphere of a 10-cent comic that still packs a punch.

Policeman McLeod notices a wild-eyed man carrying a bag with a suspicious rusty red stain on the bottom, and from the man's story, he believes that the bag contains the head of his boss. He chases after him and a city-wide manhunt begins. Soon, McLeod spots a man carrying a bag and shoots and kills him, only to discover that the dead man is not the maniac (who was already captured), but an innocent man carrying a bowling ball!
