The doctor, now attending Walter Harmon's funeral, reflects back when he predicted to Harmon's wife that her new husband had but six months to live. She decides not to tell her husband of the prognosis, but to just spend lots of quiet time with him, which begins to disturb Walter, and he starts to see another woman, leaving Laura. In the end, it is not Walter who passes away, but Laura......from a bad heart.
