The Defenders #15
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis September 1974 issue of Marvel's "non-team" book delivers a cover showdown that's hard to ignore: Magneto taunts the Defenders while his Brotherhood of Evil Mutants engages them in full-on battle, with the Hulk charging forward, a winged figure swooping through the fray, Doctor Strange squaring off in the background, and a massive pink bruiser taking a hit on the right — all rendered with kinetic energy by pencilers Sal Buscema and John Romita, inked by Mike Esposito and John Romita. The story title promises "Panic Beneath the Earth," and the cover's rocky, cavernous setting makes it easy to believe things are heating up somewhere deep underground. Len Wein scripts, with interior art by Sal Buscema and Klaus Janson — a strong creative lineup for one of Marvel's most entertainingly unconventional team books of the era.
