“The Sword in the Lake!”

In "The Sword in the Lake!", the Silent Knight rides into Camelot to defend Lady Celia, only to be drawn into a deadly tournament orchestrated by the sorceress Morgan Le Fay. Facing off against a parade of champions, he’s ultimately bested by a mysterious masked knight—only to discover the foe is an enchanted suit of armor. Forced into servitude, he must complete a series of perilous tasks, including slaying a dragon and diving into a mystical lake to retrieve a sword held by a spectral hand. Written by Robert Kanigher and brought to life with dynamic art by Irv Novick—both inks and pencils—this 1958 adventure blends medieval myth and magic in a tale of honor, deception, and a final, lightning-fueled defiance. The cover by Irv Novick captures the moment the Silent Knight plunges into the lake, a striking image that hints at the supernatural stakes within.
