“The Web and the Flame!”

This 1967 King-Size Special delivers a full 41-page all-new epic teaming Spider-Man with the Human Torch in a story titled "The Web and the Flame!" — and the cover by Larry Lieber and Mike Esposito captures the duo in stunning fashion, with a flame-wreathed Torch blazing above while Spidey crouches dynamically against a crackling web of fire and shadow. Two mysterious silhouetted villains lurk ominously in the corner, promising surprises that writer Stan Lee was clearly relishing. For a quarter, 1967 readers were getting features, guest baddies, and zero reprints — a genuinely satisfying package for any Marvel fan.
