“Part Two: The Unspectacular Spider-Man”

Part two of Marvel's "Spider-Island" arc arrives in The Amazing Spider-Man #668, and the cover by Humberto Ramos and Victor Olazaba sets a wonderfully chaotic tone — a young man in a blue jacket squares off against a snarling green creature in what looks like a cluttered lab, energy crackling between them as they clash. The dynamic, tilted composition crackles with urgency, perfectly capturing the sense that Manhattan has become a very strange place indeed. Dan Slott, Ramos, Olazaba, and colorist Edgar Delgado are firing on all cylinders for this 2011 event chapter.
