“To Stalk a Spider!”

The August 1972 cover by John Romita and Frank Giacoia puts Spider-Man right in the thick of it — caught between the Gibbon, who looms large clutching our hero while declaring "I must obey Kraven! Spider-Man must die!!", and the fierce, golden-maned figure of Kraven the Hunter bearing down from above. The banner says it all: "Spidey! The Gibbon! And Now — Kraven the Hunter! It's Action All the Way!" With Gerry Conway and John Romita steering "To Stalk a Spider!", this issue promises a relentless three-way collision that's hard to resist for any fan of early-'70s Marvel storytelling at its most visceral.
