In "False Feud," a land dispute between cattle baron Dirk Haley and working cowboys—including Tex—centers on control of water and grazing rights; when Tex is caught in the middle of the conflict, he must navigate the dangerous tension. In the second story, Tex confronts a cunning "Chico Kid" bandit who has robbed a bank and taken a young girl hostage; the kid attempts to trick Tex by using the girl as leverage, but Tex outsmarts the criminal and recovers the stolen money.
