Teen Titans #77
Part of DC's sprawling Blackest Night crossover, Teen Titans #77 delivers a cover that's hard to look away from — a horde of undead Black Lantern figures, clad in their signature black-and-white rings, charging forward with feral, skeletal ferocity beneath a stormy, lightning-split sky. Leading the charge is a skull-faced figure with massive blade-like claws, flanked by a winged corpse, a crackling female figure, and several other reanimated horrors, while a lone living hand reaches desperately into the frame from the left edge. Cover pencils by Joe Bennett with inks by Jack Jadson give the scene a raw, kinetic energy that captures just how overwhelming this undead assault feels. At $3.99 in 2010, this is a vivid snapshot of the Teen Titans caught in the darkest chapter of the DC Universe.
