“Where Walk the Villains!”

In "Where Walk the Villains!", Iron Man faces a chilling new threat as the Dream-Maker—once Count Nefaria—uses a sinister machine to trap him in vivid hallucinations, pitting him against his past foes in twisted sleep visions. Meanwhile, a frustrated Happy has vanished into the Irish countryside, prompting Iron Man to chase him down while the Dream-Maker grows increasingly desperate, pushing his device to dangerous limits. Written by Stan Lee and illustrated by Don Heck with inks by Mickey Demeo, this 1965 tale blends psychological tension with classic superhero action, all under Jack Kirby’s dynamic cover art and Carl Hubbell’s bold inks.

The Dream-Maker (formerly Count Nefaria) creates hallucinations ("dreams") in which Iron Man must battle some of his former enemies in his sleep. Iron Man then travels to Ireland in pursuit of an unhappy Happy, who walked off in a huff last issue. The Dream-Maker continues to torment Iron Man. Iron Man battles bravely and a ranting Dream-Master feels he must add more power to his machine. This results in a short-circuit which causes the machine to explode. Iron Man dismisses the episode as just a dream. Meanwhile, Pepper calls Pepper and persuades him to return to the States.
