Strange Academy's take on the school-hallway wait is anything but ordinary — two students sit on a bench outside a "Parent's Day" bulletin board, one with a flaming skull for a head and the other slumped in weary dread, while ominous silhouettes of supernatural figures loom on the wall behind them. The unspoken tension between these two young sorcerers says everything about what it might mean to bring your parents to this particular school. Skottie Young and Humberto Ramos find real heart and humor in the premise, with Ramos and colorist Edgar Delgado making even a mundane hallway feel charged with magical menace.
