Sonic the Hedgehog #20

A memorial wreath, tearful friends, and a stone reading "In Memory of Sonic the Hedgehog" set a surprisingly poignant scene on the cover of this 1995 Archie milestone — while a very much present Sonic hovers above it all, grinning and pointing knowingly as Sally and Tails mourn below. The cover cheekily poses the question right on its face: has Dr. Robotnik finally beaten Sonic, or is something else entirely going on in "That's The Spirit!"? Cover pencils by Dave Manak and inks by Harvey Mercadoocasio give the whole thing a lively warmth that makes the fake-out irresistible.
