Sonja rescues a messenger from savages who have attacked him on the road. She agrees to accompany him home to Gathia but, when he later dies from drinking tainted water, she decides to deliver the message herself. She is allowed into the great walled city but the locals aren't to happy with the bad news she has to tell them.
