Proposition Player #4

Issue four of six in Vertigo's mature-readers series finds Proposition Player in wonderfully surreal territory. John Bolton's painted cover frames a startling tableau: a casually dressed young man seated in the background wearing a bemused grin, flanked by a large, menacing crocodile that dominates the midground — while a pair of stockinged legs in heels loom large in the foreground, their owner cropped just out of view. Willingham, Guinan, and Randall's 2000 series has always balanced dark wit with the uncanny, and this cover promises more of both in "House Rules or The Inevitable Fate of Sidekicks.
