NYX #2

History

The second volume of NYX was announced by Marvel Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski and Executive Editor Tom Brevoort at a South by Southwest (SXSW) panel dedicated to the future of the X-Men line, positioning it as one of nine titles launching the 'From the Ashes' era starting in July 2024. Writers Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly—who work collaboratively under the name 'the Hivemind'—cited the original 2003–2005 NYX by Joe Quesada as a direct inspiration, along with youth-ensemble books like Runaways and Young Avengers, framing the series as a street-level successor to that tradition. Artist Francesco Mortarino, whose prior Marvel credits included Avengers and Cult of Carnage: Misery, was tapped by editor Annalise Bissa; Mortarino noted his enthusiasm for the original Quesada/Middleton series and for capturing a specifically New York City visual register drawn from Daredevil and Spider-Man books. Issue #2 was released on August 28, 2024, with cover art by Sara Pichelli and a variant by Maria Wolf.
