In "Demaskiert von Dr. Octopus!", Peter Parker is hit hard by the 24-hour flu when Doctor Octopus kidnaps Betty Brant, hoping to lure Spider-Man into a trap. Though weakened, Spider-Man fights through the chaos of escaped zoo animals and confronts Ock—only to be unmasked, leaving everyone convinced Peter is just pretending to be the hero.

In "Der gefährliche, groteske Grüne Kobold," the Green Goblin hatches a twisted scheme to defeat Spider-Man by enlisting the Enforcers and orchestrating a fake movie shoot in the desert. As filming begins, the staged battle erupts into real chaos when the Goblin and his allies attack Spider-Man—unwittingly awakening the Hulk in the process.
