Martian Manhunter #15

Part three of the "Rings of Saturn" arc finds J'onn J'onzz in a deeply unsettling predicament — the cover by Tom Mandrake shows the Martian Manhunter's green body ensnared and pierced by a mass of cold mechanical tendrils and cybernetic machinery, his cape billowing blue behind him as a second figure looms in the lower corner. John Ostrander and Mandrake were clearly pushing J'onn to his limits with this series, and the image of DC's most powerful telepath at the mercy of alien technology is genuinely gripping. If you've been following this JLA-connected solo run, this penultimate chapter looks like exactly the moment when things get most dire.
