Magnus, Robot Fighter #12
In "The Volcano Makers," Dr. Arbon’s desperate act of sabotage ignites a chain of volcanic eruptions across North America, driven by his belief that his colleagues have betrayed him. As Magnus races to stop the escalating disaster, he uncovers a deeper conflict between a man’s fractured trust and the machines he once commanded. Written by Russ Manning and Don R. Christensen, with art by Manning and Royer, and a cover by George Wilson, this 1965 issue delivers a tense, grounded sci-fi thriller where the real fire isn’t in the earth—but in the mind of a broken scientist.

Dr. Arbon, forced to take a leave of absence for his health, retaliates by igniting volcanoes across North Am. Finally convinced that his colleagues have not replaced him, and actually have his best interests at heart, he tries to deactivate his robots, which rebel and continue the volcano campaign. Magnus ends the danger, and in the process restores Old Faithful, which has lain dormant for a thousand years.
