Set in the year 4000 A.D., the stories follow the robot-fighting hero as he battles rogue machines and corrupt human authorities in a futuristic society. The collection features the work of writer/artist Russ Manning, preserving his influential vision of a world where humans and robots clash for control.
In "Havoc at Weather Control," Jo and the Outsiders stumble upon an ancient Battle-Rob while exploring the Grand Canyon, unaware it's programmed to dismantle North Am's weather control system. With the skies turning chaotic and the landscape at risk, Magnus must step in to stop the machine before it's too late.
In "Robot Ghost," Professor Wade’s consciousness lives on in the robot Nadmot, driving a relentless campaign against the North Am City Council. When Magnus uncovers the scheme, he outmaneuvers Nadmot and its followers, leading them aboard a spacecraft and sending them hurtling into the void.
In "The Mysterious Octo-Rob," Magnus faces a new threat as Xyrkol deploys a magnetic force field robot to assault North Am, while two humaniform androids work to undermine Magnus from within. As the trail leads to Xyrkol’s hidden Antarctic base, Magnus closes in—determined to stop the villain before his plans come to fruition.
In "Beasts of Steel," Magnus teams up with Leeja to stop Mekman, a rogue operator who’s evaded the psycho-probe and now unleashes robot animals to sabotage North Am’s food supply. With help from Danae and her genetically enhanced creatures, the duo races to track down the mechanical predator before chaos spreads.
In "The Volcano Makers," Dr. Arbon, disgruntled after being forced to take a leave of absence, unleashes a wave of volcanic eruptions across North America through his rogue machines. As his rage turns the continent into a fiery landscape, he begins to doubt his own judgment—only to find his creations have gone beyond his control. Magnus must intervene before the earth itself is undone, and in the process, reawakens Old Faithful, a geyser long silent.
In "The Evil Ark of Doctor Noel," the radical scientist's fanatical crusade against robots takes a terrifying turn when he abducts Leeja and others, sealing them in suspended animation aboard a vessel bound for a distant world he believes will be free of machines. With Magnus caught between a moral dilemma and a desperate race across space, the fate of the hostages—and the line between salvation and tyranny—hangs in the balance.
In "The Monster Robs," a mysterious meteorite triggers an unstoppable growth in robots, turning them into a rising threat. When the Outsiders, usually at odds with Magnus, secretly take a fragment of the meteorite, they end up playing a crucial role in helping him contain the chaos.
