Amenadiel traps the baby spirit back in its bottle. Sandalphon tells Elaine and Easterman he has been trying to create a race of angels by using the demiurgic power bequeathed to Michael from God to quicken human wombs and then using Michael to carry the children to term. When he threatens to take Elaine's ovaries, Easterman attacks him and is killed. Lucifer arrives and takes Elaine and an injured Michael back to the gateway where he forces the host to leave before he takes Michael through the gateway and releases the demiurgic power in Michael to form a secondary creation.
