“The Morningstar Option, Part One”

In "The Morningstar Option, Part One," Lucifer—ever the reluctant force of chaos—takes on a job that pulls him back into the web of divine meddling. With creation itself at risk from unchecked human wishes, he seeks answers from Briadach, Lord of the Lilim in exile, who directs him to Paul Begai, a young man with Rett Syndrome unable to speak. When Lucifer finally finds him, it’s already too late—Paul’s sister Rachel has just wished him dead. Mike Carey’s gripping narrative, brought to life with haunting detail by Scott Hampton’s art and coloring, sets a chilling tone for a story where even the smallest wish can unravel the world.

In exchange for a letter of passage, Lucifer agrees to do a job for his former employer. Someone is granting human wishes and all of creation is threatened. Lucifer goes to Briadach, Lord of the Lilim in exile, for guidance. Briadach tells him to find a young man with Rett Syndrome, named Paul Begai, who is unable to speak. Unfortunately, by the time Lucifer locates him, it is too late; his sister Rachel has just wished him dead.
