Love and Rockets #21
In "Bala," Gilbert Hernandez weaves a quiet yet charged moment in the lives of the residents of the fictional neighborhood, where tensions simmer beneath everyday routines. Luba’s sharp words to her daughter Maricela, a surprising marriage proposal from Archie, and the eerie discovery of blood and broken glasses at Señor Munkres’s house all hint at deeper currents beneath the surface. With intimate storytelling and expressive art by Hernandez himself, this 1987 issue offers a poignant glimpse into personal histories and unspoken connections.
