Legion of Super-Heroes #10
This August 1990 issue announces its threat right on the cover: "Roxxas Strikes!" — and the image makes the stakes unmistakably grim, with a bloodied figure lying face-down in the rubble while a purple-clad figure stands with their back turned amid roaring flames and a crumbling structure beyond. Keith Giffen and Al Gordon's cover work conjures a haunting atmosphere of aftermath and menace, framing Roxxas as a villain whose presence leaves devastation in its wake. With Tom & Mary Bierbaum driving the story alongside Giffen, this is the kind of brooding, consequence-driven Legion storytelling that made the 1990 run so compelling.
