I Hate Fairyland #16

Skottie Young and colorist Jean-François Beaulieu deliver a delightfully grim cover for this 2018 Image series, with the tiny, mischievous Gert perched atop a massive skull surrounded by a heap of bones — her smug little grin saying everything you need to know about her approach to Fairyland's problems. The stark black background makes that blue-tinted pile of remains pop with an almost playful macabre energy that perfectly captures the series' signature tone. If you've been following Gert's extraordinarily violent adventures, issue #16 looks like more of the cheerfully irreverent chaos fans have come to love.
