Hawk and Dove #8

Dove stands front and center on this Karl Kesel cover, radiating cool confidence amid a rubble-strewn, fire-lit cityscape as she delivers a pointed taunt — "Hawk says you're tough — but you look like a pushover to me!" — to a red, spider-like figure crumpled at her feet. A small inset panel in the corner shows both Hawk and Dove in action, hinting at the duo's dynamic partnership. Written by Barbara and Karl Kesel with interior art by Greg Guler and Scott Hanna, this January 1990 issue — "M.A.C. Attack!" — looks like a fine showcase for Dove holding her own on her own terms.
