Issue seven of this 1989 DC series delivers a cover that grabs you immediately — Dove, in her crisp white-and-red costume, is locked in a desperate grapple with a massive, clawed creature whose dark red bulk fills nearly the entire frame, crumbling concrete and debris scattering around them. The composition is visceral and kinetic, with Dove fighting from a clearly disadvantaged position against something that dwarfs her, the city faintly visible far below. Cover pencils by Greg Guler and inks by Karl Kesel give the struggle real weight, perfectly setting the tone for a story titled "Countdown!
