Copperhead
A thief who donned a snake-themed costume to commit crimes, Copperhead later made a literal deal with the devil — selling his soul to the demon Neron in exchange for being physically transformed into a monstrous human-serpent hybrid, complete with a prehensile tail, venomous fangs, and claws.
Debuting in the pages of Leave It to Binky #61 in 1968, Copperhead is a Silver Age DC original whose career has wound through some of the publisher's most iconic corners — sharing pages with Batman, Bruce Wayne, Robin, Dick Grayson, and even The Flash across a run that stretches a remarkable 57 years. Most at home in the Batman universe, this villain has also surfaced in Hawk and Dove and the collector-coveted From the DC Vault: Death in the Family: Robin Lives!, which counts among their key-issue appearances. With 31 catalog appearances and a longevity that spans from the go-go Silver Age all the way to 2025, Copperhead is a DC deep-cut well worth tracking down.
