The story unfolds with a haunting contrast in the final panel, where Tahr’s appearance subtly shifts in hair, face, and uniform, sparking a long-standing mystery among fans about the artist behind the change. Written by Paul Kupperberg and brought to life by Paris Cullins and Ernie Colón, with inks by Pablo Marcos and Ernie Colón, and colors by Jerry Serpe, this 1982 issue features a cover by Gil Kane that captures the tension with sharp, dramatic flair.

Wylxa despairs of his apprentice Tahr ever learning to be a good Green Lantern, until he remembers when he too was first wielding the green power ring. The final image of Tahr is different from the rest of the story in hair color, shape of head, neckline of the uniform, and eyebrows. Don Milne believes it is drawn by a different, uncredited artist. Via Facebook, Paris Cullins agrees with Milne's assessment and suggested the hand of Ernie Colón.
