Giant-Size X-Men #2

As the bookend to a five-issue event that deliberately mirrors the structure of the 1975 original (which also opened and closed an era of X-Men storytelling), it crystallizes Kamala Khan's identity as a mutant hero and has real forward-looking narrative weight: its Revelations backup by Jed MacKay and CAFU formally introduces Doug Ramsey's new identity as 'Revelation' — successor to Apocalypse — setting the table for the next chapter of X-Men continuity. The issue is thus both an anniversary capstone and a genuine story engine for the ongoing line.

The 2025 Giant-Size X-Men event was conceived in the X-Men editorial office under Conductor of X Tom Brevoort, who brought the foundational premise — sending Ms. Marvel on a time-swept journey through five landmark X-Men eras — to writers Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing already fully sketched out. The event was publicly announced on February 19, 2025, with five one-shots running from May through August 2025; Kelly and Lanzing wrote all five main stories, while artist Adam Kubert — a longtime X-Men stalwart — was specifically recruited to draw both the opening issue and this concluding one, framing the event with his work as a deliberate creative choice. A prelude story ran in the Free Comic Book Day 2025: Fantastic Four/Giant-Size X-Men #1 on May 3, 2025, giving the event an unusually wide promotional runway.
