“I Lift My Lamp”

In "I Lift My Lamp," Snake-Eyes is pushed to his limits in Borovia, where a deadly mission unravels amid betrayal and chaos—Major Bludd, sent by the Jugglers, stands in his way, and a rebel named Metz barely survives a mob’s wrath, only to be marked as an enemy by Magda after Snake-Eyes intervenes. Meanwhile, Storm Shadow and Stalker escape their prison in the Statue of Liberty’s torch, but their freedom comes at a cost: they’re now hunted outlaws, their loyalty questioned by the very forces they once served. Written by Larry Hama and illustrated by Mark Bright, with inks by Randy Emberlin and colors by Bob Sharen, this issue delivers a tense, character-driven chapter in the G.I. Joe saga, with a cover by Lee Weeks capturing the story’s haunting mood.

In Borovia, Snake-Eyes attempts to complete his mission, but fails due to the interference by Major Bludd (sent to kill Snake-Eyes by the Jugglers), as well as the rebel, Metz, killing Strawhacker. Metz is almost killed by the crowd inside one of the gulags, but Snake-eyes saves him, and now Metz is Magda's enemy, as Snake-Eyes leaves towards home with an orphan girl in tow. Storm Shadow and Stalker escape from their captivity in the Statue of Liberty's torch, but are now outlaws no thanks to the Jugglers, and their corrupt actions.
