“Hidden Aces”

In "Hidden Aces," the G.I. Joe team and their allies from the Oktober Guard race toward Punta Del Mucosa, pursued by Darklon’s forces, when unexpected reinforcements arrive in the form of Wild Bill, Hot Seat, and Stretcher. As the Tucaros choose to remain and defend their rainforest, Scarlett searches for Snake-Eyes—only to learn he’s on a secret rescue mission orchestrated by Storm Shadow, while Stormy and Stalker are captured by General Crowther’s men. Written by Larry Hama and illustrated by Mark D. Bright with inks by Randy Emberlin and Romeo Tanghal, the issue’s cover by Lee Weeks captures the tension of a mission gone deep.

As the Joes/Oktober Guard teams head for Punta Del Mucosa with Darklon's forces in hot pursuit, aid comes in the form of Wild Bill, Hot Seat, and Stretcher to help them escape. The Tucaros decide to stay behind and fight for what's left of their rainforest. Scarlett wonders where's Snake-Eyes, and General Crowther tells her he's on a rescue mission set up by Storm Shadow, as elsewhere Stormy and Stalker are captured by Crowther's men and imprisoned. Snake-Eyes continues his mission in Borovia, unaware he's been targeted by Bludd for assassination.
