In "Gypsy Warning," Jo Garcia, the acting Commandante, uncovers a dangerous sabotage at the cuartel—gunpowder replaced with charcoal, leaving Los Angeles vulnerable. When he confides in Diego and questions Raquel Toledano, the Eagle’s agent, he becomes a target of a conspiracy orchestrated by Fuentes and Quintana. Zorro steps in to protect him, unraveling a web of betrayal that leads to a final confrontation with the inn keepers and Espinoza, culminating in Raquel’s quiet departure to join her husband in Spain.

In "A Double for Diego," the ever-persistent Garcia schemes to finally unmask Zorro by tricking him into revealing himself at the de la Vega hacienda. When Diego learns of the trap, he quickly devises a clever countermove—using a look-alike to turn the tables on Garcia and outwit the pursuer once more.
