Eclipso #34
In "Coup d'Etat sous la mer," a 1973 French-language comic from Arédit-Artima, an American artist is compelled by an Aztec priest to conjure a monster using enchanted paints—only to create a second, opposing force that collapses the temple in a dramatic climax, leaving the priest with amnesia and the danger contained. Written by Stan Lee and Larry Lieber, with dynamic art by Jack Kirby and inks by Steve Ditko, the cover by Kirby and Vince Colletta captures the surreal tension of the moment.
