“The Sword of the Kinslayer, Part III”

Closing out the "Sword of the Kinslayer" arc, this July 1991 conclusion to DC's DragonLance series features a striking cover by Mike Kaluta — an ornate composition framing a brooding blond figure opposite a snarling, fang-filled dragon maw, with crossed swords, elaborately decorated pillars, dark circling ravens, and robed onlookers forming an almost heraldic tableau. The intricate detailing and warm amber sky give the whole image a sense of high-fantasy ceremony shadowed by menace. With story by Adam Blaustein and interior art by Ron Randall and Randy Elliott, this is a satisfying capstone to a compelling trilogy within the beloved Krynn universe.
