Adam Blaustein
Madeleine Joan Blaustein, also known by the pen name Kendra Bancroft, was born on October 9, 1960, in the United States, and died on December 11, 2008. She is best remembered for her dual career as a voice actress—most notably as the voice of Meowth in the English dub of *Pokémon*—and as a comic book writer. Blaustein entered the comics industry in the late 1980s, writing primarily for Milestone Comics, where she made an important contribution by co-creating one of superhero comics' first transgender female characters. Her most frequent credits include work on *The Legend of the Shield*, *Deathwish*, *Hardware*, and licensed titles such as *DragonLance Comic Book*, *Spelljammer*, and *Conan the Barbarian*. She was active in the field from 1988 to 1996, with over thirty issues to her name. Blaustein was also recognized as the first intersex and transgender voice artist at several agencies. Her later life was marked by continued voice work, and her legacy endures both for her pioneering representation in comics and for her memorable vocal performances.
