“The Pumpkinhead Plot”

In "The Pumpkinhead Plot," Wendy’s first aid class takes a strange turn when her instructor, an Austrian refugee with a distinctive "W" scar, repeatedly uses the same student as a model—only to hand her the bandages each day. When Tom grows suspicious, he dons the guise of the Condor, faking an injury to uncover the truth. The bandages hide coded messages, leading him on a trail that points straight to Jaspar Crow. Written by Otto Binder and Toni Blum, with art by John Cassone, this 1942 thriller from Crack Comics #25 blends wartime intrigue with a clever mystery, all brought to life by Gill Fox’s striking cover.

Wendy is taking a first aid course in school, taught by an Austrian refugee with a "W" scar on his face. He uses the same girl each day to model injuries, bandaging her, but, strangely enough, giving that girl the bandages each day. Tom smells a rat and decides to investigate as the Condor and literally drops into the classroom, feigning injury to get bandaged. The bandages contain secret messages, and the Condor follows the clues to Jaspar Crow himself!
