Joe series, continuing the storyline as the team faces new threats and internal conflicts. It includes the 'Shadow of the Serpent' arc and features battles against Cobra and the return of classic characters, written by Larry Hama with art by various contributors.
In "Wanted," a 2015 IDW Classic G.I. Joe TPB, Larry Hama crafts a tense, character-driven tale as Cobra Commander moves forward with his deadly scheme at Broca Beach. Meanwhile, Zartan rallies the hungry Dreadnoks in New Jersey—only to face resistance until they’re fed, leading to a tense standoff when Baroness is captured by Lady Jaye during a food run. With Billy under Venom’s control and Destro aware of the manipulation, the stage is set for a clash of loyalties. S. L. Gallant’s art, with inks by Gary Erskine and colors by J. Brown, brings the action to life, while Madman!’s cover captures the series’ signature edge.
In "Joes On The Run...", the G.I. Joe team remains on the move, evading Cobra with no clear safe haven in sight. Meanwhile, Mindbender grows increasingly uneasy as the brainwave scanner’s mysterious effects ripple through Cobra operatives and Billy, hinting at deeper consequences no one fully understands.
In "The Joes Strike Back," Duke leads a daring infiltration of the Silent Castle while Hawk races against time to clear the G.I. Joes’ name, slipping past Pentagon security only to be cornered in a hidden chamber—where he makes a bold move that could change everything.
In "Jackpot!!!", the Joes race against time after uncovering the Commander’s treasonous plans from the Silent Castle’s data core, only to see Snake-Eyes captured by Billy while Storm Shadow helps Scarlett slip away. With the Pentagon on high alert and Hawk waiting for the President’s final order, the fate of the U.S. hangs in the balance as the Joes’ mission teeters on the edge of success—or disaster.
In "Freedom!! / Enslaved!!" from Classic G.I. Joe TPB #16 (2015), the Joes race to escape Cobra's grasp with Wild Bill’s aid, now holding Storm Shadow as a prisoner. As Snake-Eyes is subjected to Dr. Venom’s brainwave scanner, the late scientist’s ghostly image flickers on the screen—just as Cobra Commander prepares to turn him into a loyal agent. With Storm Shadow vowing to reclaim his sword brother, and Hawk uncovering sleeper cells within the U.S. Government, the line between freedom and control blurs.
In "G.I. Joe Is Back!", the reactivated Joes launch a daring rescue mission to free Chuckles from Cobra's hidden remnants beneath the ruins of Springfield. With the Pit III headquarters back online and a brainwashed Snake-eyes now their unexpected key, the team prepares a high-stakes operation—though the real challenge may not be getting in, but what they’ll find once they do.
In "Homecoming Redux," Zartan rallies the starving Dreadnoks in New Jersey, demanding loyalty before their next move—only to be stalled by their desperate craving for grape soda and doughnuts. Meanwhile, Baroness is captured during a food run, and Billy’s mind, hijacked by Venom’s scanner, begins to carry out a twisted revenge on Cobra, with Destro watching in silent dread while Mindbender remains unaware.
In "Entrapments And Undoings!", the Joes hold the Baroness captive in the Pit III, but Destro’s determination to rescue her ignites a risky operation led by Zartan and the Dreadnoks—while the Commander hesitates. Meanwhile, Mindbender grows uneasy as Billy submits again and again to the brainwave scanner, unaware that Dr. Venom’s consciousness has seized control, and Storm Shadow ventures into the heart of Cobra’s stronghold to free Snake-Eyes, who fights a desperate battle against the same invasive mind within the machine.
In "Broken Illusions And Escapes," the stakes rise as Cobra Commander orchestrates a diversion at PIT III, sending Dr. Mindbender to strike while Destro and the Dreadnoks move to free the Baroness. With Spirit seemingly falling to stop a lone B.A.T. armed with explosives, Snake-Eyes is finally freed from Dr. Venom’s control—thanks to Storm Shadow’s use of the Arashikage mindset—though Billy remains trapped in Venom’s grasp.
In "Shocks and Rockets!!!", Wild Weasel is drawn into a high-stakes airstrike on the Pit III, only to be intercepted by Ace, who stands in his way. Meanwhile, Spirit’s survival from his last mission drives Tunnel Rat and Tripwire to search the battlefield for unexploded ordnance during the chaos. Elsewhere, Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow face off against Billy, now under Dr. Venom’s control, and use the scanner to break Venom’s hold—trapping the villain’s digital form once more in a vision of Kwinn’s capture.
