This issue of Cerebus — bearing the "High Society" banner that would define one of indie comics' most ambitious long-form narratives — presents a striking cover by Dave Sim: the aardvark hero slumped in an ornate chair, looking thoroughly unimpressed while a looming dark figure hovers behind him, the whole scene framed within a circular vignette against a stark black background. The reprint edition's outer cover elegantly showcases the original 1981 issue #26 art as a book-within-a-book design, giving readers a double dose of Sim's moody, confident linework.
