Batman: Detective Comics #3
In "Foundations, Part One," Batman and Nightwing pursue a copycat killer tied to a chilling past—one whose life was once saved by Thomas Wayne. As they confront the case, the duo grapples with the evolving role of Arkham Tower, a new facility designed to cure, not confine, the mentally ill. Written by Mariko Tamaki and Matthew Rosenberg, with moody, atmospheric art by David Lapham and colors by Trish Mulvihill and Lee Loughridge, the issue sets a tense, character-driven tone. Dan Mora’s cover captures the shadowed intensity of the story with striking precision.

Batman and Nightwing track a serial killer who is a copy-cat of a mentally ill killer whose life had been saved by Thomas Wayne years before. Bruce and Dick debate if Arkham should be used for punishment or rehabilitation of the mentally ill, as plans are developed for the new Arkham Tower with the goal of curing their patients. After the killer is captured, he is freed from police custody by a group known as the Forgotten, and Batman and Nightwing end up capturing him again and bring him to Arkham Tower.
