“The Night Gawker”

Marvel's horror-humor anthology Arrgh! returns with issue #4, and the cover by Tom Sutton sets the tone perfectly — a wide-eyed man in an orange suit brandishes what appears to be a camera while a vampire, a mummy, a werewolf, and an assortment of glowing-eyed creatures close in around him, with a tiny imp tumbling at his feet. A speech bubble proclaims "No monster can escape — the Night Gawker!", which tells you everything you need to know about the delightfully absurd spirit inside. It's a wonderfully chaotic snapshot of mid-1970s Marvel leaning hard into monster-comedy, and at a quarter a copy it was an easy sell off any spinner rack.
