Crazy #6

Atlas Comics' humor mag Crazy serves up a perfectly absurd gag on this 1954 cover by Carl Burgos: a towering, bandage-wrapped mummy has scooped up a pair of hapless tourists in its massive arms while a frantic tour guide — oblivious to the chaos happening right behind him — calls out desperately for his missing charges. The self-proclaimed "Little Mixed-Up Mag" lives up to its name with sharp comic timing and a wonderfully deadpan setup, and a small sign teasing "The Hunchback of Notre Doom" inside (with art by Joe Maneely) promises more of the same irreverent monster-movie spoofery.
