“Football Fever!”

Atlas Comics' humor title Crazy was living up to its name by February 1954, and this cover by Joe Maneely makes the case beautifully. A hulking green wax monster in a red suit — proudly displayed at "Madame Knockwurst's Whacks Museum" — has apparently come to life, sending museum-goers scrambling in every direction while wax figures of Bluebeard, Billy the Kid, and Dracula look on from their pedestals. Maneely packs the scene with infectious comic energy, and at just ten cents, this "Little Mixed-Up Mag" promised readers a wonderfully irreverent good time.
